I released the Sega Plus Jiikae: Remix Collection this week. A project where I reimagined songs from some of my favorite game soundtracks of Sega IP. This project really gave me an opportunity to explore different genres that I’m interested in and to exercise my range. Also, while the songs may sound different, I wanted them to still sound like they’d fit in each game’s original OST. Yo! It has been a very busy year and I have not had time to update this blog like I’ve wanted to (I think that might be a tradition for anyone who has a more “personal” blog at this point though) In that time though, I released a new EP called Sunset Revolver. The goal of this project was to create something that felt more quiet and calm. I took a lot of production inspiration from Latin music as well. I got the opportunity to score the music for an MTV commercial. It is an animated short directed by Chibuyum, titled "Patterns" Chibuyum and the people over at MTV/Paramount were great. They gave me a lot of freedom with the musical direction. So I decided to make some acid jazz, and it turned out amazing. Airing on all Paramount networks! Watch below!   +

I've released my second EP finally. Been working on this for about 4 months and I'm happy with how it turned out. The goal for this project was to create songs that have more phases and movements. I also wanted to be more diverse in terms of genre. So it came out as a melting pot of jazz, breakbeat, drum and bass and ambient. I enjoyed making it and it's available now on Bandcamp and all other streaming services!

I have been experimenting with remixes again. Been wanting to re-imagine some of my favorite songs in a way that is somewhat faithful but still adds something significant.For this one, it was only right that I start off with Shoji Meguro's 'Heartbeat, Heartbreak' from Persona 4. Especially with Meguro being my favorite game composer. I laid down the chords, some breakbeats, some gospel elements and came out with this. Enjoy! Heartbeat, Heartbreak (Remix) by Jiikae
